John Cage: 4'33'' for piano (1952)
Dear visitors, now ...
Dear visitors, now I'm going to stop the possibility to comment this video: too much "spam" and stupid thoughts from people, that are just dull in their minds and try to insult John Cage or myself ... Sorry - I hope you understand my decision.
Yes, he's probably ...
Yes, he's probably just laughing at us. We've all been Punked by the greatest and best comedian. Of. All. Time.
.....
.....
I think John Cage ...
I think John Cage is trying to tell us that there is music everywhere if you just listen.
lol! "whats he ...
lol! "whats he gonna do for an encore"
my own reading: a ...
my own reading: a drop of water,a train passing by, the steps of someone far away from you, everything can be read as primval music, imo "4'33" goal is to put you in the right direction of really listening...i´ve listened interpretation of this piece in which ppl caughs, or laugh making the music themselves, saldy, theres ppl who tries to get the to be quiet, which goes totally against which, imo, Johan Cage tried to accoplish. Another reading is that Cage is laughing at us, if true its genious
i wish i could ...
i wish i could play that well :(
The point of this ...
The point of this piece was to explain that other songs that have noises, such as a band's single, or an orchestral piece always has a noise, it always has something that can be pirated, put on YouTube or torrent, or LimeWire, etc. However, every time John Cage plays this, it's always different. Different people cough, different insects chirp, different people fart so the music is always different at each and every concert for this piece.
Yeaaah... ROcX!
Yeaaah... ROcX!
btw i am not ...
btw i am not trying to insult it or anything i just want to know... like will someone explain to me?
Like there wasn't ...
Like there wasn't enough silence already... but I actually liked it.
rock on!
rock on!
What the hell is ...
What the hell is this? He didn't play nothing, yet he gets a clap. What's he gonna do for an encore?
that´s completely ...
that´s completely true. What you hear is not silence. I am hearing my heart beating in my neck and the computer ventilator, you hear something different each time depending on the surroundings , great piece!
great sound!!!!!!
great sound!!!!!!
hell yeah dude
hell yeah dude
What's great about ...
What's great about this piece is that, even on youtube, where everything is pre-recorded, the piece is experienced differently each time. Play the same video five times, and the music you hear will be different each time through. Truly a piece that can be enjoyed just as well on a computer as it can live.
did he perform it ...
did he perform it more than once? i think its interesting,i mean at first sight it might look simply and cheap, but when you get the point, its cool:)
"The first question ...
"The first question I ask myself when something doesn't seem to be beautiful is why do I think it's not beautiful. And very shortly you discover that there is no reason." --John Cage.
Incredible. Can you ...
Incredible. Can you send me the partition?
u can hear coughing ...
u can hear coughing in the backround its funny
This piece was ...
This piece was influenced by an artist creating blank white canvasses. They let the shadows and light of their environments create the art. That is exactly what 4'33" is all about and why it is so famous and yes BRILLIANT
the piece is ...
the piece is intended to be written so that all the sounds of the world are part of the performance itself such as the occasional sneeze or cough or even the wind blowing outside. every performance of this song is different!
this isnt about ...
this isnt about the music. Its theatre.
... not, if they ...
... not, if they have open ears and an open mind ...
