Look inside the things instead of looking at the surface (and in this situation: the surface is the word). I was a old school socialist but then I started noticing changes in socialism and its followers views and its militant splinter groups. Now I know that socialism is a broad and general term that encompasses many evil and damaging tenets. In these mad times you can call yourself "Anti Fascist" and behave like fascists. The "Socialists" you speak of obviously aren't real socialists. Socialism is actually secular and sees all people as equal. When people abuse the new powers the state has in a socialist society it is no longer true socialism. Corruption causes "bad socialism" or it may even go as far as a military takeover, fascism. Due to the ideas of a socialistic society of everyone being equal as soon as one person has extra power or money they are no longer a socialist.
