I have seen it. Moore is a hardcore liberal. Moore like most liberals or progressives has a problem with critical thinking. The aspect that they get correct is the fact that something is wrong with how we live. But they blame capitalism for wealth gaps, or they blame guns for shooting deaths. Too much emotion, not enough rational thinking. If Moore had his choice, the 2nd amendment would be gone and rich people would magically work hard for money, just to give away to government.

Trends show that healthcare costs are only rising. Number of people in need of govt assistance is growing. So taxes will grow with them. Spending priorities are important. But neither side seems to understand a basic fact. WE HAVE TO CUT SPENDING. And that means on welfare and warfare, both. We simply cant afford to take care of ALL people cradle to grave. Taxes do the same thing to the poor as they do the rich. It takes money from them that they could spend.

You keep calling me a liberal! If my advocation of liberalism is as consequence of humanitarianism, I guess that (in your eyes) I am, even though I've never voted Liberal in my life. I'm not even particularly interested in politics, however, I'll never sway in my belief that essential social programs, welfare etc are necessitous, ensuring those in need are taken care of. I realise there's no quick solution, we're all in this global financial crises. However, if taxation is to be raised, I believe the wealthiest should pay the most, leaving the neediest paying the least (if at all.) Taxation should always be proportional to remuneration. We both agree that all countries need some kind of governance, yes? Without any form of taxation whatsoever, a gov could not operate the essentials (police, emergency services etc.) It's how they spend our money that's important.

Problem is that the more money the government takes out of the economy by taxation, the less money left to be spent in the economy. Why would anyone want to bring capital into the US when it will get taxed 50%? Raising taxes might make you liberals happy, but it wont fix the economy. It will only compound the problem.

The wealthiest should pay the most, that's only fair. The top 1% control 40% of the entire nation's wealth yet, no matter how much they're directly taxed, they'll employ top accountants to keep their assets secure. It doesn't affect them. The "Occupy" movement are highlighting endemic inequity, inequality & corruption, speaking for the millions who work their fingers to the bone just to make rent, for millions of others who now (through no fault of their own) don't even have a pot.. I never used word anarchy. I believe in government to ensure survival of society. I believe in State government over Federal government. The balance was given to us a long time ago. The US federal government has a few detailed authorities, everything else is up to states or the individual. Bill Gates made the choice to donate. The point is the choice. When you talk about govt taxing the rich more, that isnt a choice. The rich pay the most taxes out of all Americans, yet it is never enough.

Bill Gates recognised the terrible inequity and inequality of the haves and have nots hence his admirable philanthropy, giving away virtually all of his vast fortune, perhaps as consequence of watching reports of starving kids all over the world pricking his conscience. Respect! I bet he now sleeps better at night. All the uber-wealthy care about is keeping their vast fortunes and to hell with everyone else.

(The reason I called into question your education was to goad you into a reply) I used freedoms as a comprehensive term that encompasses rights. Although it seem you and I are on the same page in regards to that we do take them for granted. However the ones that I'm referring to are clearly stated in the Constitution.

No, you don't enjoy the most freedom, in fact, the US is slowly turning into a police state. The Patriot Act, HR 1955 etc, all laws drafted up to slowly erode said freedoms. Crime rate? How much crime goes unreported? Violent crimes (homicide, rape etc) are endemic, gun-crime is only just behind S Africa! "The US as close to perfection as one can get" Tell that to the millions with no healthcare, millions more struggling on a mere $25,000 pa, millions living in absolute poverty..

Europe is secular, as am I. You are not heading towards socialism, instead, pure capitalism is being replaced by a Keynesian system (employed in Europe), a mixed economy where both state and private sectors in combination with fiscal policy drives the economy. In tougher times, it's the sensible solution. BTW - Norway has a socialist gov yet they enjoy the highest standards of living in the world! No ideology is perfect, they all have pros and cons thus, there'll never be a Utopian society.

(sighs) First off i'm an atheist (we have freedom of religion). We don't idolize a flag or a statue but what they represent(alone they are nothing). We don't blindly follow our leaders and drink in every word they say. To answer your question because we have the most freedom. We have a high standard of living. Gun crimes-everyone owns guns here so the chance guns are used in a crime is high . Murder rates-That's South Africa. People in jail-You are right we have a lot of useless laws. Deficit-Our Government thinks it can spend it way out of a hole. Crime rates per capita - The UK is 7% higher than the US. Look I Never said the USA was perfect and it never will be. But it certainly is as close as you can get.

I totally agree that this system isnt fair. But when progressives or liberals talk about adding on to govt makes me crazy. It is the government intervention that creates these monopolies. Regulations are written by the wealthy. If you think you can get greed and corruption out of government then you are dreaming. You have to cut government and THE PEOPLE have to help eachother. Im a libertarian, im more against monopoly than liberals. It is government that filters and chooses where those funds go. Wall Street have all those assets because they are smart and have government helping them. Government help is not capitalism or fair. But modern liberals want more government to help people.
