Randy Pausch Last Lecture: Achieving Your Childhood Dreams

...

He's teaching ...

He's teaching people it's important to help others (don't be selfish), work hard (climb over the brick walls that mean most & don't give up), & having fun (LIVING life to the fullest). I can't relate to any of his goals or interests other than having children & doing my best w/ what Im given & being grateful for all of my blessings. This was meant for everyone to learn from but DEDICATED to his children which proves his dedication to his family. He passed on but left this legacy for them <3 & =]

to give the same ...

to give the same message to other people. It may be planned for his children, but doesn't mean that other people shouldn't get said message too.

Yes, but why does he say that the talk wasn't for us.... If his talk is his legacy for his children than so be it, be then dont give a damn 1 hour lecture and at the end, say that it wasnt for your audience... I dont get that why you would do that !!!

Randy Pausch is TRANSFORMATIONAL. Love it.

Thank you!

Thank you!

This is late... but ...

This is late... but I really find this guy to be an amazing speaker. His lecture is just so engaging and both humourous, as well as serious. He deserves to be a man well remembered, and I wish I could have someone as amazing as this to be my professor. I'm going to for sure read his book. He's my new idol, or at least the person I now most respect.

My science teacher ...

My science teacher showed me this in class today. I watched it again to see the virtual reality part.

The book is also called, "The Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch, Jeffery Zaslow

It's a wonderful book, changed my perspective on game design entirely.

I asked myself that ...

I asked myself that, when I first watched this, (about 5 months ago). Life has changed for the positive, I changed jobs, started a new business and am training for the marathon (just did a 10K 2 weeks ago).... It's good to get a slap from reality now and then.... I also bought his book, 'The last Lecture' on itunes - worth every penny. :)

Hey! thank you for ...

Hey! thank you for this useful video. By the way, I notice lots of people keep on talking about dating course known as Zuntramax Secrets (do a search on google), but I'm not sure if it is good. Have you thought about Zuntramax Secrets? I've heard some extraordinary things about it and my cooworker finally get laid by hot girl using it, but he refuses to tell me :(

I don't think we ...

I don't think we should to begin to speculate and question his childhood life. Its pointless and serves no purpose in this discussion because honestly we both didn't know him. And i agree with you having a good attitude isn't enough, because your attitude may get you the chance. But you still must be prepared in order to really impress that person. So i can see where your coming from. Maybe your looking a little to deep into his character and not enough into the actual speech itself?

Why are you happy ...

Why are you happy he's dead? You didn't like the video then?

Amen to that.

Amen to that.

Dude, there is a ...

Dude, there is a lot wrong with that statement. Everyone wants their dream, that's why they are dreams. He got his through a lot of help that not many get in their lifetime. Wanting it has no true bearing on achieving it. His message isn't even new. This stuff has been said time and again by loads of more impressive people.

He got things ...

He got things handed to him as far as we know. We have no information what he did to get the advantages that he explained later. He even made a point that he was lazy for a period of his life. He got lucky and it worked out after that. Besides, don't you find people with terminal illness usually have some achieving dream story and feel good message? Maybe that's fate.

Not really if you ...

Not really if you pay attention. He's calling attention to that despite his ill health. He's not making fun of it. That would disrespectful.

But we don't know ...

But we don't know how he acted when he was younger. All we know about him is how he is in this video. He comes off as abrasive to me. He might have been a different person when he was younger and changed as he got nagged and forced to do things his teachers wanted him to do. I understand your point on attitude however, but that's not enough in the real world. It really isn't. He's influenced people sure, but then again this is the feel good speech and most people wouldn't think deeper.
