Actually, that's inaccurate. Some Amish do have computers, however they only use their computers for business. The core basis of Amish disuse of technology is to be closer to ones family and to God, among other things. Since using their computer to conduct business doesn't discourage either of those, it's fine. That's also why many Amish do use diesel electricity to power electric lights, as opposed to, say, candles.
