These new systems ...
These new systems designed to remove humans from jobs arent as good as they say. We supply Coles warehousing which has an automated warehouse run by just 2 - 4 people. Everyone likes to say our jobs are in danger but to make pallets neat enough with all the right barcoding and trims takes roughly a 3rd extra staff in the supplying warehouse (not mentioning the manufacturer) Less jobs in one, more needed in another. In the end you just cant do without people to square away the problems

If you were willing to custom-build a warehouse to accommodate robots, you could have a much more efficient system.

Low stacks. You can ...
Low stacks. You can not store NEARLY as much product as a standard warehouse. This system is not efficient nor effective. Given cost per sq. ft. this is just a poor idea. Im also quite sure they brake down, need constant programming. The more I think of this the more that this is a horrible idea logistically and monitarily

At some point we have to make the transition away from human labour, intentionally slowing human progress so that someone can maintain their job is like shooting yourself in the foot. It will gimp humanity in the long term.

great, the human ...
great, the human worker will remain in place and have no chance to change his mind by walking 10 meters. Is that progress? no, it makes the low skilled worker a robot itself. At the commentaries in the video are like a big complain about the slow human worker. Engineers don't care, they like their job, which is fun

The robots do. Check the article at singularity hub about the Amazon acquisition: "Not only for order fulfillment, the robots do the heavy lifting for product replenishment as well. When inventory comes in a worker scans the product and immediately the proper pod is on its way to receive the goods."
