Cicadas don't bite ...
Cicadas don't bite or sting. They are not violent insects at all. They do however use a proboscis to gather nectar and sap from plants. And it can hurt if they think you're a feeding plant, and they try to feed from you. But it's not intentional. They usually are in areas with humid climates. They aren't as common in the US as they are in other countries. Though they usually live in places like Illinois, and Southern states.
