I was initially like that when I watched some AMV that focused mostly on the gore and freaky faces and was like "oh, hey, I haven't really watched any sort of super-violent anime, the reviews seem good, maybe this will be my first" but it turned out to be SO MUCH MORE than just that. Especially with the second season, which... explains stuff, basically. And does it well.

I haven't watched the series completely since it was a bit too vague for me to follow it at the time I was watching (/me is going to watch it again soon) If I understand it correctly, season 1 is the question arc, leaving the viewers with lots of question, season 2 would be the answer arc, which is supposed to clear things up.

dudes i can't even watch this anime! I am really into what Higurashi is about but i sorta have this thing against blood. I can even barely stand the abridged series its so fucked up. but i still did try it and the anime is more like a fanfiction i would write. i qeustions your sanity and stuff like that. even though i haven't watched a lot of this anime my fav character is Shion so yeah thats why shes in my profile pic!~
