I was born and ...
I was born and raised in NY. I was born in Brooklyn and moved around a lot in Queens, it isn't a place you would want to raise kids but I think that it is an overall good experience. You don't need money but you need time. Damn, thinking back, I love this place. Money was always short in my family so we moved around a lot. I lived in South Jamaica, Far Rockaway, Harlem, all over Brooklyn and Queens basically. I HAVE MAD NYC FEVER!

I love it there. Hadn't been in few yrs. Only live bout 2 hrs north in Dutchess County. Make sure u have a map or an idea of where things are. Look at a map before u go, to familiarize yourself w.the layout-what direction to head. Don't hop on the subway, unless u know if you're going "uptown", dwntown", "midtown". "FROMMERS.COM is great-good map, too. Keep in touch, let me know how it goes. BTW-most ny'ers r actually friendly.

As a native and ...
As a native and life-long New Yorker I found this presentation to be quite good. One thing that is not addressed is that New York City is a difficult place to GO TO THE BATHROOM. Many years ago, there was a book called "Where To Go" and unfortunately, I can't locate it but travelers here should keep such a salient point in mind, that and to really see stuff here you have to be in good physical condition to WALK A LOT.
