Whoa.. Ok. I wasn't originally happy with this drive for my MacBook Pro. Then I found a article telling me zap my pram. Command opt P R. Anyway.. Wow!! Ok, so 5400 RPM 750 Toshiba to 7200 RPM 750 Gig Seagate Maximus XT. Toshiba boot up time 1:15, Maximus 32 seconds! Prior to the PRAM I was only getting 50 to 55 seconds. Apps just POP now. I am soooo happy at this moment.

16GB laptop RAM ...
16GB laptop RAM only recently became affordable. 8GB may have been a stable maximum before. If I understand correctly, the problem with 4GB is running 64 bit applications. With 4GB or under, 64 bit applications slow down the computer instead of speeding it up. You get beachballs and lagging all the time, at least I did. If you can't upgrade your RAM, running everything you can in 32 bit could improve your computer's responsiveness until you can upgrade, particularly Firefox.

Apple sells MBPs with a maximum of 8GB of RAM, but they can handle up to 16GB. Why they do this is beyond me...

In my early 2011 13" Macbook Pro, the stock drive was a Seagate Momentus 5400 320GB. Now I have this drive and 16GB of Komputerbay RAM. I don't ever want to go back to how slow it used to be.

Yes but YOUR SSD probably use MLC cells where the Momentus XT use much faster SLC. TO the op......I would like to see an comparison between 500 and the 750 models since everyone is saying that the 750 is faster.

the momentus xt uses an 8gb slc ssd as cache, not as storage. you have to understand that you ssd will OBVIOUSLY rape the xt in terms of sheer speed, but these are for people who need a balance between storage and speed. cheers :D
