Gleypa Okkur means ...

Gleypa Okkur means 'Swallow Us' in Icelandic. Gives the song an even more melancholy meaning.

and it snowing in Greece today....

Yes, this is all ...

Yes, this is all him. He composes, produces, makes the beats, everything. He has people play the string parts, but he writes all the music. As for the meaning of this piece, well that's up to personal interpretation :)

First, a couple of ...

First, a couple of questions: Does this man produce all aspects of his music? Is he a part of some larger collaboration or is he a solo artist? Second, I haven't listened to the entire album, which I'll do soon, so I don't remain oblivious to its larger swelling of emotional sound; but, I'm wondering, is this an escape from the weight of darkness? Listening to this song, I can't help but feel a darkness descending - a weight accumulating upon my mind and soul. Yet, there's reprieve in the end.

This one blew my ...

This one blew my head off. I'm glad i always find positive comments to his songs, because no douchebags and haters know this kind of music. I couldn't breathe when i first heard this song today. Mr Arlands' music is one of the most amazing things in the world.

I really love this ...

I really love this song so much..the misterious way it starts and after 2 min turns into a hymn that touches the deepest of my heart...It's so beautiful that it nearly hurts..No words can describe the beauty of olafur's music..! I really hope no one sees this as a spam, but I just think that good music needs to be shared.. I found a guy on youtube called "Silvio Pfiffner" If you've got the time, listen to his song "Coming home" Breathtaking and powerful song by this young, talented guy..!

Soul touching, and ...

Soul touching, and yet, like an etude: A touch of melancholy and peace which reminds us of what is true for each human. Will see how Olafur's and all our music evolves.

I'm so lucky that I ...

I'm so lucky that I have the ability to appreciate and truly feel music like this. It's a gift that few of us get to experience. This one in particular is so painfully beautiful; only melody can capture what he was trying to say, words would just get in the way.

Thank you Ólafur. ...

Thank you Ólafur. Before I found you, I was only killing time. Now I don't feel I'm wasting the only thing one truly has.

I listened to this ...

I listened to this with rainymood playing in the background, and it synced up beautifully. Not to say that it wasn't breathtaking before -- the rain just made it so.... ....

I don know why but ...

I don know why but i felt some kindda connection between me and this masterpiece. It's like the music of my inner soul. It keeps me alive during my toughest time. I'm a person constantly haunted with suicidal thoughts but when it plays it comforts my soul. I could cry but it holds me so kind...that I break but I don't shatter. I decided to make it my funeral song. I love it so much, so much I couldn't describe in words... Thank you Olafur Arnalds, ur my angel.

Great idea. Keep ...

Great idea. Keep talking about Sigur Ros and Olafur, Starek, names people need to know if they're ever to be filled by music, not just patted on the wrist with it - as in Katy Perry as you say. What pap she is, what moronic nothingness. Hearing just this one composition can make even a saint a sinner. Who'd want to be a saint anyway? Some things are divine, and always out of our reach. This is more......human. Cathrin

"Sad" you say? ...

"Sad" you say? Whyever would you find sadness in this glorious language of the music this man creates? I understand the melancholy tone, I see why you would feel a sorrowful emotion - but if you look past that and know that even "sadness" when expressed in music is a gift, then you'll always feel connected to it in the most JOYOUS of ways. Never sad..... Cathrin
