Well, there's a reason why it being a prequel to Alien didn't make sense. It's not. Even Ridley Scott said that it wasn't going to be a direct prequel to Alien. It just takes place before those events and it's in the same universe. Meaning it contains DNA of alien like space jockeys, androids, weyland corp ect. Dates were wrong because it left space between this movie and alien. There are going to be at least 2 more installments because the last scenes set up for one and it made its money back.
