i believe that this songs talks about an apprentice "the young apprentice" and he is seeking knowledge from someone but still he wants to do the person he seeks it from one better and the one that is teaching him wants to do him one better and they are learning from each other but studying each other and at the end the apprentice does end up getting the better of the teacher cause in the end that's what any apprentice wants even if he is humble,meek but the teacher knows that....
