Porsche is allways verry conservativ with their speed claims, bcs. they guarantee them for each car as minimum performance with regular tires, etc. In reality most Porsches have a better performance than the producer specs. My 2011 911 Turbo (PDK+SCP) runs 0-60 m in 2.92 sec. at 22° C on normal road pavement (GPS measured) with standart tires. Porsche claims 3.4 sec to 60 mph and Vmax of 312 kmh (336 by my one measured)

Then why did you put numbers for the GT2 RS? Anyways, the GT2 0-60's in 3.4, does the quarter mile in 11.4, top speed of 204mph, 60-o in 98ft, etc. ZR1 0-60 in 3.3, quarter mile at 10.66 at 132mph, top speed of 205, 60-0 in 97ft, and better lap times than the GT2. These guys in the video are both horrible at testing cars. Both cars could have done WAY better. They are both great cars.

The guy in the ZR1 does NOT know how to drive!!! The ZR1 is capable of running high 10 sec 1/4 miles and this guy ran a low 12........ GARBAGE AZZ DRIVER!!

Think, what you have to think. "The guy in the video didn't put the ZR1 to it's full potential." made my day.. Its not all about 0-60 wikipedia entrys to discuss about traction. Let`s be serious. You US guys have a problem, that your premium car is only as efficient as an "old" GT2 with 530 HP. I work for Bosch. We deliver some of the parts for Porsche. Trust me, there is not one part, which is not tested with a lot of money and time. This is one of the reasons for the price.

Quite right on both counts (track experiences and importance of daily driver tractability and "enjoyment factor"). I'm sure you count yourself lucky to be able to visit the Nürburgring with your Porsche— a driving experience for which most American owners (whether Porsche or ZR1) would envy you.

98% of 911 or ZR1 never drive their car on a proffessional racetrack. I only take my 911 Turbo ca. 2 times a years to the Nürburgring for a ride. I think it more imported, that the cars have also good every day capabilities and make fun on a contry road trip. watch?v=pOIAFTXe5Bg

Comparing new models to old is difficult, yes. The 2012 Porsche 997 is a better value, but the Corvette ZR1 has also been improved.The finish of its interior will never match (always a puzzle to Corvette enthusiasts), but on a performance basis (ideally, lap times on a track) it's at or near the top. It won a 10-supercar comparo in 2011 (I think) conducted by Car and Driver, which included extensive track time.

If they floored it right at the start there wouldve been alot of wheelspin,they go easy to avoid that,since that would make it slower.

Difficult answer, bcs. the 911 GT2 is since 2010 out of production. From the price range you now have to compare the 2012 911 Turbo (997) witch costs $ 137.500. The 2012 ZR1 costs $ 111.600. But if you compare the quality and materials of the interiour, you get why there is a price difference.
