I' m pretty sure it's not a cigar box guitar since I have actually built a few and their sound character is different than this. However, I do agree that the playing method is slide and I assume it's guitar with a sitar bridge in open tuning (hence the droning sound). I'm actually surprised you mentioned cigar box guitars! They are awesome!
