I'm not sure if I'm just too stupid to understand that... vision and sound stimulates different parts of the brain.. are there different realities in my brain? and what about actually touching stuff.. i mean i can feel that stuff is 3D.. even with eyes closed and so on.. and they also use the terms "in front of" in the video.. how can their world be 2D?? I'm confused..

This is scientific ...

This is scientific facts twisted into another one of those what if scenarios. Just because are brains only know what we perceive doesn't mean what we perceive isn't real. It's like asking if God exists. I for one prefer to think of the material world as a layer of reality with unseen whatever's outside of our perception. But this shit is ludicrous.

1) We can observe ...

1) We can observe other people's brains. 2) If a person's brain is damaged - so too is the way in which they see and interact with the world. 3) Our brain is responsible for what we see and how we interact 4) Life is both inside and outside our brains at the same time... Therefore, physical world not an illusion.

There is no ONE true reality. We all create our own realities, we all see everything differently.

Our body is the media through which our minds interact with the world.

This video is a farce. Did reality begin when your brain was formed as a fetus? When you die, will reality cease to exist? If so, then how do you explain the emergence of your brain in the first place? Wouldn't your brain just be an illusion too? Our "science" is failing because we are finding out that reality is much more complex than we can perceive. Then we make ignorant assumptions based on half-truths. Like saying reality is an illusion because of the mechanism of its perception.

I like option 3 ...

I like option 3 better, and that is all quarks are linked. One projects another, which in turn projects another, and so on. Each one projected into the next higher dimension onto infinity, and each one is a "copy" of the original, as it is able to exist, in its said dimension. Followed one way, it leads to infinity. The other, leads to one. And THAT is the end. Congrats if you made it this far. I almost didnt :)

dimension. If "God" or "Allah" or whoever, is FROM a higher dimension, then everything we do directly and physically effects his house. If "God" or "Allah" or whoever is from a lower dimension, which is equally likely, then you would think that we are the result of him arranging the quarks into patterns that resemble life as we know it.

Holographic Theory does not only promise a quantum theory of gravity, it also promises us a direct, physical link to the infinite, no matter where that link may take us along the way. If our "quarks" are indeed projecting into a higher dimension, then anything effecting our quarks will effect the constructs in the higher dimension. (cont)

Quarks make atoms, an atom is a complex system of quarks. Atoms make everything, everything is a more complex system of quarks. Quarks are projecting us, WE, as "quarks" could be projecting something else into the higher dimensions. A link to both the finite, in one direction, and the infinite, in the other, yet both are the SAME direction. To get to either, first you must start with a quark. (cont)

Scientists are ...

Scientists are excited because it offers a workable quantum theory of gravity. Now this can go 2 ways. You can argue that the quarks that make up our atoms here in 3d space, exist in a 2d realm, that we attempting to observe from the outside. But consider the opposite for one second.

Scientific America had a GREAT article on this, but they didnt follow it through to its conclusion Basically, they state that 3d space is a projection formed by particles (quarks, ect) clustered on a 2d membrane. They call the "space" inside the membrane "Anti-De Sitter" space, and it experiences time and gravity. The gravity is caused by the cluster of 2d particles, the effect manifests in 3d space. the opening where ...

the opening where they read out about "facts proven by science today" immediately turns me off. it is a THEORY, people really need to learn the difference between THEORY and FACT in the context of a scientific argument. however its an interesting THEORY but is entirely misrepresented by this film.

"we actually observe the electrical signals in our brain" LOL....ummm no. You want to "observe actual electrical signals in a brain", try fMRI or EEG, or better yet open up a small mammal's skull and dig into its cerebral cortex. I think what the video meant to say is that you perceive a mentally constructed image produced by the interpretation of electromagnetic radiation hitting your eyeballs, and that this perception is generation in a specific area of the brain.

I stopped watching at "light clusters called photons"...now I know that nobody with a degree in physics had anything whatsoever to do with this 20 year old video...

You're right, atoms ...

You're right, atoms are "virtually" (but not entirely) void. The reason an object appears to be solid is not due to any illusion in your brain; it's due to the fact that there are simply *so many* "virtually void" atoms packed together to make up the object to begin with.
