I flew on one of these in 2002 from Manchester. All I can say is I thought the pilot was an ex-russian cosmonaut, beacuse that's the only reason I can think of that he left my internal organs on the runway with the speed and angle he used to take off!! The same was to be said for his/her approach to Sofia. Lots of people crying due to quick changes in cabin pressure (ears popping). Luckily I wasn't affected.

Yeah, it doesn't meet emissions standards but that's it. In terms of safety they are top notch. Blame the airlines that fly them for the crashes. It's up to them to keep them at a safe standard

I couldn't agree with you more! I've always loved the look of the TU-114, the TU-134 and especially the TU-154! :) I don't think anyone could ever take a back picture of this airplane! :)

I wonder if Tu-154 is still used on international routes. I lived a short distance away from Helsinki-Vantaa airport (HEL), and could recognice the Tu's (134 and 154) by their noise. The early DC-9s were not much quieter.
