That's a good idea, and that's what I thought when I bought my MPC5000, but for me personally, the PC offers many more options for audio editing, mixing, and mastering. (Namely access to the Waves plugins)
Got the MPC5000- it ...
Got the MPC5000- it does everything you need it to do, standalone. The thing is that the MPC5000 sampler degrades the audio quality of the original sound significantly... to get cleaner samples into the machine you ought to use a USB cable to transfer samples from the PC to the MPC5000 memory. Make sure it's in the correct format (16bit). No quality loss.

I was impressed with NI Mashine and almost bought one but I said "Akai will come out with a better product soon." I am so on the fence about this I don't know what to say. So instead of ...
So instead of having a no-brainer "this is EXACTLY what I wanted" solution, you'll again have to convince a LOT of people of your product and get them to switch. Especially if all they get for 1200 Euros is something that looks like a workstation, but in reality is a controller. I think it is a missed opportunity. People would have paid to get it, much easier then for the MPC5000.
