So, that's how they pre-made it... nice to know about it.

I've had my ...

I've had my manufactured home for 12 years. Been a good home. The worst thing is the carpet on the bathrooms. One toilet overflow and the floor is ruined. They build the floor as a deck, then any wall layout can be applied. This is not good when replacing a section of floor. Also they use about thirty staples per foot when nailing anything. A foam glue is applied to the floor joists before the decking is nailed down. This is a nightmare to deal with. I own a Redmond home 16x80. Go for the doubl

If these ...

If these manufactured homes are so great, why does Wikipedia state that "The Manufactured Home Buyer's Handbook points out that four out of five new manufactured home owners find at least one major problem with their new home, and most are unable to arrange for satisfactory repairs under their warranty." My conclusion is it's probably OK to buy a manufactured home that's been lived in for a few years as long as you have an inspector who you trust and is very thorough. But not a new one.

pretty much all ...

pretty much all the junkies now work in factories?

Manufactured ...

Manufactured housing can be more affordable, However it is the COMMUNITY you live in thats the important. Be sure to ask people who live in the community you are considering. I live in a community Owned by sun communities and they do not live up to their promises. their are good community owners but their few and far between.

> '.. materials are ...

> '.. materials are NOT the same ..' Comparing wood-frame to "brick and mortar" and then arguing materials are different? No crap, Sherlock. Comparison is between manufacturered and site-built wood-framed homes. Unless you spend big for the latter, materials used in each (framing, floor foists, interiors, etc) are not that different. People choose mobile homes for many reasons - lower cost, bang-for-buck, fewer hassles (permits, etc), quicker move-in, lower taxes, and so on.

As a mortgage ...

As a mortgage broker myself, it is much easier to find financing for a traditional site built home than a manufactured home. In fact the credit requirements are much higher on manufactured than traditional.

Kitchen carpeted???

Kitchen carpeted???

I own a 30 year old ...

I own a 30 year old mobile home built in the 70's. It's still standing, kind of crappy in some spots, but still works great. And it was cheaper to buy than investing in a site built home. If you have little to no money, and are desperate for a roof over your head, mobile homes are decent enough.

The materials are ...

The materials are NOT the same. LOL Are they really trying to convince people that a manufactured home is equal or better than a brick and mortar home? Please. No educated intelligent person would ever buy that. The reality is the only people that buy these are those that can't qualify for a conventional home loan or construction loan.

i'm living on the ...

i'm living on the ground floor of a condo building and have realized that it's basically a manufactured home. wish this would've crossed my mind back when i was home shopping! but, one thing...a 'fully carpeted kitchen'?! yuck!
