We're human and it just happens that we are very susceptible to social and peer pressure but that risk can be lessened very easily in a childs development by rationally arguing with them. It teaches them to intelligently argue and stand up for themselves and their views, it just so happens that helps when standing up to peer pressure situations where the content conflicts to how they feel about it.
