Hello -- thanks for your comment! T.M.Lewin was started in 1898 by Thomas Mayes Lewin. It is now owned by our CEO Geoff Quinn and he has actually produced a short video about the development of T.M.Lewin on our YouTube channel. Take a look and let us know what you think :)

Great video! I'm going to a dance this weekend so it will come in handy (As well as the Mad Men pocket handkerchief haha) Random question - But how did you get into the suit and shirt business? I'm developing a real interest in this kind of fashion, but do you need specific degrees and qualifications to get involved these days? I'm 22 by the way.

Hello, thank you ...

Hello, thank you for your kind words. If you iron in towards the cuff this always works best; you do need to make sure that the sleeve is completely flat when ironing it too. If you do find it more difficult you can by sleeve boards that fit into the sleeve of your shirts perfectly and allow you to easily iron around the edge. Hope this helps.

Brilliant video! ...

Brilliant video! Followed closely and achieved a near dry clean press; however one thing I'm struggling with is creases towards the cuff of the sleeve. Is there a place I should begin from? Positioning or pulling in a particular direction? I absolutely love ironing! One thing that makes a huge difference is a steam generator a very worth while investment especially for the London singleton. Thank you kind Sir!

This is indeed the ...

This is indeed the best shirt ironing tutorial out there. The hints regarding pressing on the back of the iron as opposed to the front in order to eliminate ripples was particularly helpful. I'm still having difficulty with the sleeves though, even though I've been ironing for a good 10 years. Ironing one side creates unwanted creases on the other and I find it difficult to straighten out he sleeve as you say. I also get those ripples across the side edges. Any further hints?

Hello, it depends on your personal preference but we recommend that you press into the pleat to give them definition and let this run half way along the shirt.

Best how to iron ...

Best how to iron video i have seen so far.. Some good tips! so many videos are like just telling the order to do it but nothing to apply in the actual act of ironing. Still wondering about the pleat down the back centre of the shirt that some have, is that supposed to be pressed in? how far down?

I'm very particular about ironing shirts, have been from an early age. I thought I had it down to a fine art but I noticed a couple of things in this video which I'm going to try which should improve my technique. Great video thanks.

Hello, when the ...

Hello, when the ironing the collar make sure that you press down in the centre and then do up the collar once you've finished ironing it. If you're having a little more difficulty then you can use a bit of starch to help keep it in place. It depends what you prefer but our Prince of Wales and Buckingham shirt are a great choice.

Hi, I'd like to ...

Hi, I'd like to know how to iron my collars to have the "rolled" shape yours has. I notice you made a mention about it around 2:32 but trying that hasn't quite had the same effect for me. Is the shape totally dependent on the collar type/size etc and which collars are best for it? Thanks very much
